Joe TLC / JT Outfitters FJ40 front bumper

Anyone have this bumper? What are your thoughts on it?

It's not a bad raw material, but it's fugly as-is.

That is what I like about it as well...with thicker steel than OEM too.

No way. The original has some curvy style. That one is a flat piece of steel channel.

With some "skillz", you could make it look nice. I think this was an old CCOT bumper at one time.

Wow, I think you're right. I was thinking they had a curve at the ends similar to stock. But it wouldn't take much to fix. 40 MPH and a stout tree............

Or a half-dozen grinder cuts, top and bottom, a 10lb sledge hammer and a welder.

It would look better if it were narrower. My other thought is the HFS bumper with the winch plate.

That's almost a clone of the old bumpers sold originally with 8274s on FJ40s. I agree that it's too plain and would benefit from having the corners turned back a bit. The narrower HFS bumper looks nicer, IMO. I still like OEM, but it doesn't work with a winch, other than PTO, really.

I've never been thrilled with the HFS bumper, but I like it better than that.

I've always thought you could make a winch mount for an 8274 that bolted to the frame rails and use a stock bumper as a cosmetic facia for it, especially if you used a rope and aluminum fairlead

My Smittybuilt works with the factory bumper and the CCOT plate.

Does anyone know if the JT outfitter winch bumper has space for a frame mounted Saginaw power steering? I’d like to buy one but just want to make sure the mounting plate provides enough space.

Yes. i have one with Saginaw ps and a 8274 winch. No problems
