Well you can’t be an “overlander” without a bunch of oversized condiment containers.

Mayo ketchup or mustard, got all the flavors covered.

Mounted this swing out the same way as the tire swing out, old farm tractor pins and eyes welded on a box to hold the fuel

word of advice, you don’t need 15 gallons back there. after many years of lugging around an extra 10 gallons of fuel and 5 gallons of water I realized I’ve never actually used more than one gas tank or one water jug

15 gallons is cool, but the next rig setup will only get 10 gallons.
Plus three jugs won’t fit with a 35 on the back of the rig, the 33 clears no problem but I’m not on the 33 train anymore

HOOOKED

Disney..... again

have a hard time not buzzing down for the Sunday funday adventures, when it’s only a short 4 hour drive.

Got to be careful, sometimes the water hides big holes in this soft rock that will eat your rig whole. ( have seen it happen) but then again that’s half the fun is the risk

With the FJ Summit Xl right around the corner o figured it was time for a good shake down run, so off to Kansas rocks for a weekend adventure of wheeling solo

with a proper shake down and feeling good about how it’s wheeling and how the cruiser is handling it all, the only thing left is to head home and start packing!

So I’m pretty excited, and we’re going to fast travel forward to current times.

IT GOES DOWN THE ROAD NOW!!!, fine tuning some odds and ends and lone star here I come.

a little death wobble around 35-40 but hammer down and it smooths out, 75-80 down the interstate is surprisingly not as bad as I thought.

weird to think I lift this rig and slap some 40’s on it and it gets faster 🤣

FJ XI!

first thing to do after a 19 hour drive stretch my legs at one of my favorite spots.

never had the chance to camp here, and have always wanted to but things never worked out. So I have made it my mission and we will be doing it this year at SAS5 one night for sure.

Taking Danny up the mountain since his rig was not playing nicely and we had time to kill before FJ summit XI

3b’s in 60’s are “cool” they have loads of torque.. but like all diesels Altitude plays a game hard. Slap a turbo on and it helps keep the power but it’s the temps we cannot keep down. Mechanical or electrical fans. So easy, works for everything but mountain climbing over 10k

just means dannys along for the ride this year and I got more work for myself

What app are you using to show your elevation?
I use an old iPhone with no cell service, does my obd2 so all the live feed on my motor, speed because oversized tires, gps, altimeter, also runs maps and tracks.

newest perk is it links to the garmin inreach mini and can have coms anywhere in the world

well worth not trading in your old phones

Reinforcements?

couple buddies from back home had been hearing me talk all year about this “event”. They couldn’t make it for the whole thing but showed up for the good stuff.

also ment I don’t have to drive 24/7 which is kinda nice sometimes.

finally I can stare out these side windows and souly enjoy the view.

working our way up Imogene I’m pretty sure. The water crossing looks like it at least

what’s worse than running into the subie boys on the same trail and doing just as fine as you are.

we turned the corner and my heart sank, granted it is the baddest of the bad for stock vans. Just Hurts to see when you come rolling up in your landcruiser.

I was wrong about heading up Imogene, we we hit the water crossing for sure but we’re headed up governor basin to check out MT Sniffles.

the Astro was probably 7/8th of the way up he mountain, very jealous of camping choice for the eve. Might have to take it come sas5

James and John I’m dragging all the first years up governor for one night, because flashbacks of nam

If you felt like walking to the top of mount Sneffles, this is where you would start. 2 mile hike and little over 2k feet in elevation

might as well climb this one this time and get a 14ker under my belt.

it’s a long drive to the top of governor basin, but it’s always quiet and always a view worth remembering

can’t wait to get back here for SAS5

If you have not made it to Ouray and the trails around here, you must come check them out

there are plenty of “events” if you’re nervous about going alone but that should not stop you, very friendly town people and trails

always leaves me longing for more and planning the next trip out

Looking down on “the steps” and on over telluride. Got to love the views this trail gives
Just go slow, don’t stop they are not bad. Imogene on the way back to Ouray has harder more challenging obstacles .

And of course everyone gets a blip of service up here and has to get those messages out. And to be fair he did just get married

I still don’t get the hype about Black Bear Pass, but I enjoy those views and a decent lunch in telluride when I come on out.
