As promised, here are some shots of the jerry can mounts I used on my trailer project. I bought them from the now-defunct 4x4Trailers a long time ago.

The design is pretty simple but very effective.

Hope this helps!

Adventure Trailers makes some pretty sweet ones, I would have used those if I hadn't had these on the trailer.

Henry, have you used the trailer off road with the NATO cans full? I'm just wondering how that lower flange is holding up since it looks like the carrier was designed to be used vertically.

I ran full jerry cans on several long trips, including going the backway to Moab via Mexican Hat, to Puerto Penasco (twice), running Elephant Hill and the White Rim in Moab, plus the trailer's "sea trials" on TR 42 and the backway to Crown King. It's a pretty stout mount.

Henry- You pulled a trailer over Elephant hill!? I have thought about it, but last time I was on it I was pretty amazed at the switchbacks and didn't think I could do it without unhitching.

That is burly! :D

I used to be a lot dumber in my younger years...I think! It was a *huge* PITA, and I did have to unhitch 3-4 times on each trip (couple of places on White Rim, too).

I just picked up 2 Blitz can mounts from NorthernTool.com (item# 19561) at $17 each. I bought 2 custom ratchet straps from strapworks.com and plan to add 2 flat pieces of steel to the drawbar and mount them horizontally on the drawbar and bolt the bottom of the can carriers to that. I will hopefully have it done by next week and will add pix to my M417 thread.
