Saw this 2017 570 come up on CaB today. The note regarding the JDM AHC caught my attention:

'...and a Japanese suspension firmware, but there won’t be any maintenance issues since everything on the car is Lexus LX570, just from the Japanese market...As for the suspension and all the modules, everything is essentially the same. There won’t be any servicing issues because these aren’t different suspension parts; it’s simply a different firmware and tuning for the original hydraulic valves...If you’d like, I can even provide you with the firmware for the American hydraulic suspension. However, in my opinion, the car is currently incredibly smooth, and I don’t need to brake when cornering because the car doesn’t lean at all.'

Any MUD wisdom on what made the JDM AHC tuning different and what all is involved with patching a US vehicle over to it if desired?

I think he's kinda full of it with the "Japanese firmware" honestly. Further down the person states:
"Yes, for the American market, the suspension is tuned to be stiffer, and an American model doesn’t lower itself when turning at 60 mph. My car does. I’ve been working with Lexus vehicles for 15 years, and I know that no one can replicate what I’ve done."

Yet the US cars do lower slightly at highway speeds. I also lost some respect for the person when they say that no one can replicate what they have done.

He probably bought the JDM version of the AHC control unit and plugged it in. But it sounds like he made a lot of other mods, like the fog light on the inside of a turn comes on the help illuminate the corner.

Kinda like how people were adding MTS to GX460’s that didn’t come with it from the factory simply by swapping the module and adding the switch.

If that’s not what he did then it almost sounds like he got a hold of a more powerful version of techstream. Fords have a program you can get called Forscan that lets you flash firmwares and adjust the “As-Built” data in any module in the vehicle. The as built data is what tells the module what options the vehicle has and what region it’s from. Things like keeping the Fog lights on with the headlights can be changed with just a quick adjustment in software.

To the fair, the selling dude probably has access to the software and programmer. Proprietary stuff that isn't usually possible to get.

And so what if he customized it? The OEM has already done the hard work to dial things in and I would count on "custom" not being as useful for the typical owner.

He mentioned it’s softer in comfort mode, which I wouldn’t consider a plus. Comfort is already pretty soft. I generally drive around in sport plus and will switch to comfort if I know I’m gunna hit any big bumps, like pulling into a parking lot or something

Props to the seller. Its a pretty big undertaking to retrofit oem parts like the light assemblies, and then make sure they place nice with the rest of the modules. Lexus does this regional differences from suspension tuning to traction settings, etce with other models as well look up Lexus Bladescan headlights, for the RX or traction control files for the RAV4 in europe vs the us.

Just like with any other used car, seller can dump tens of thousands of $$$ into a rig, its upto the buyer market to decide final value.

Side note its a 2017, but the seller states "I replaced the button and trim with original parts to update the car to the 2021 facelift"

What facelift at EOP
