Anyone here have experience with a Jasper engine? My sister in law is looking at a 4Runner (1994) that has a new Jasper engine in it. Installed and owned by my mechanic's son, who I trust, and they say the engine's are great. Thought I might try to get a less partial opinion though. The truck is in great shape, in her price range, and the engine comes with a 75,000 mile, 3 year nationwide warranty.

What do we know about these engines?

    Thanks,

    TJK

Good stuff and they stand behind their stuff . My brothers shop has installed over 100 motors from them so far (same amout of trans too)
I only saw one "f" up from them out of the box and that was a V10 ford as they popped a timing chain on one of the cams off a tooth .

They also completely refurbished the truck. The list of replaced or repaired items is long, things like brakes (including rotors), new tires, serviced the diffs, flushed the tranny & refilled with synthetic, new radiator, power steering pump, thermostat, etc. Might be a good option for her.

    Thanks,

    TJK

never used one but have heard nothing but good things about them, my local Toyota dealer uses them for motors sometimes.

think they have a plant in WA someplace.

They do good work but the motors are stupid expensive. The warrentee looks good but once you read the fine print it is not all that good, there is a clause about using the truck for anything except normal on road driving.

I would not worry about the quality of the motor as long as all the normal things check out OK but I would not install/buy one of their motors due to cost and core issues.

It is better than some greasy guy under a tree!

One of the fellas at the race shop used to build motors for Jasper. I have heard nothing but good things about them. They are kinda pricey, but if it's allready in and done i would think it should be good as new.

It's already in and I've seen the receipts and agree. The owner is asking basically what he has in the motor. The warranty looks like it will suit my SIL just fine. Pretty hard to find a 94 4Runner with a 75K warranty on the motor.

Anyway, I drove it, nice truck. Won't outrun my 80 but it had plenty of pep. Reckon I'll haggle him some on the price and see where that goes.

    Thanks for all the replies.

My buddy Javier here in Houston uses quite a few Jasper engines in his repair shop. He has nothing but good to say about them.
