Guys, some of you really need to start thinking about taking over the dutys of Pres. I have approached a couple of guys about it and have no takers, so I'm kind of out of ideas.
Come the Jan. meeting, I reckon we open nominations and let the vote decide, but I am done......4 years is enough.

Guys, most of you know it is and has been a labor of love for me.

I never wanted to be Pres. ....ask JJ, I did not know the way the bylaws
were written when I assemed VP it would ascend into the Pres position I
did not think the Pres should live as far as I do from the DFW

area, I know now it really don't matter as long as you are at the
meetings....

I know me, and when something stops being fun for me, if I am not
careful I chunk it, and being pres is beginning to "not" be fun.

It's time for someone else to take the reins.

Jim suggested a list of what's required of the pres.

Required......show up once a month and preside over the meetings.

Now let me share what you will wind up doing as Pres.
counselor
mediator
referee
public relations
human relations
preist
rabbi
preacher
guru

Now if I have not frightened every one of you away there is nothing more
gratifying than to have the club show it's true colors as a the best
damn group I have ever been associated with.

It is an honor to go to events and be recognized as a member of LSLC,
even more so to be known as the "Leader" of LSLC........

A couple of things that really need doing, things I as Pres have not
been able to get done,

Website is not up to standards.

We must have an active membership person, one guys that has the decals
and access to the Paypal records so when someone joins and pays online,
we know it.

Well since I typed the last response I went and layed down with Lilly,
and played with her til she got ready to go to sleep.....also spent some
time with my better half.......and those that know Deb, know for sure
she is my better half.....................

Let me share with you all, the main cause of strife in this
position...it's when one club member does not take the defensive stance
..............now WTF do I mean..........

Tim comes up to me and lets me know that Tom left him on the trail broke
and with no help......just left him............

Now, I know Tim, I have wanted to leave him on the trail myself, I know
Tom, I know he would not leave anyone on the trail, so ......... I
either jump on with Tim and slam Tom.........or I calm Tim down and be

the peacemaker and try and find out all the facts before it gets all
over that Tom left Tim, and by the time it gets to JR in Houston, Tim
was bleeding also..........

I have spent a good amount of time over the past 4 years diffusing
situations like this example, and have even been in the middle of one or
two........most of you guys have never known of any of them, that is one
reason IMHO the club has prospered so, is that we have been able to be
the voice of reason in these litttle turmoils.......

A President needs a couple of tight close friends that he can dump this
crap onto, and know that it will not be repeated, some of you have been
that guy for me and you are smiling .......remembering a few of

these instances...

I have also told a club member when he was out of line, that he was
causing LSLC harm, that he needed to find another club.......

I care for this club, and my desire is for it to become so much more
than it is now..........

It already is the premier club in the TLCA in many eyes, my goal is that
is the premier club in every eye........

LSLC members have a swagger, a pride in things the rest of the country
don't understand, that is until they get to know us, then they drive
ungodly distances, just to hang out with us for a weekend, sure the

wheeling is great, but that is not the main reason they dorve........

Only one requirement ... and it rules me out.

Hope someone else steps up.

Unfortunately, as TLCA is findin' out ... apathy is rampant amongst us.

Just as any good businessman knows getting started is the easy part, Maintaing is the hard part.
The challenge for us for '06 is maintaining the momemtum, spirit and culture.

Well if any of you are in a funk over the lack of direction, the club seemed to be about to plunge into, or if you have had enough of me and are ready for a change I had a couple of very encouraging phone conversations today..................................

With the club's approval, I submit to you the candidate for the new LSLC president................................

Gary Coberly, with Bruce Mitchell as VP/Co-President, as these 2 fine gentlemen have felt the call, led to deliver themselves to serve..............

for the first time since I have been telling you guys I was done in Jan, I feel good about the fate of LSLC..................

If you have any reservations contact me offline, otherwise we will entertain this motion at the Jan meeting......................we will also be modifying the bylaws specifically the note in there about wagon owners/FJ40 owners...

ARTICLE VIII Section 3:
If the President elected in a given year shall be the owner of a short wheelbase vehicle (such as an FJ-40), then the President-Elect shall be the owner of a long-wheelbase vehicle (such as an FJ-60), and vice versa.

....while I understand the original reasoning behind this rule, our club grew past the reasons for it in a cloud of dust............

Butch, Kowboy, LSLC,

Most of ya don't know me and I'm not even close to living in Texas for another 17+ months so obviously meetings are out for me, but if I could help with membership or Roundup organization or whatever (short of being Kowboy's Biatch) I would be very interested in doing that. It would of course be remotely either via phone, email or forum. As I mentioned earlier 17 months or so will see us heading south, or in my wife's case back south. Hopeing to settle in the Fredericksburg area, which puts closer to Austin and SA then DFW. But more importantly, a bunch closer to Katemcy and, oh, the in-laws ;) . I would be more then happy to help out the future Prez and BOD in anyway I could.

Good Luck with your search Sir!

Mike

Geez.

If'n he's tryin' to join LSLC he obviously can't be a member of the White Trash yet.

Reckon I'm gonna have to tutor ya on our bylaws College Boy.

:flamingo:

well, I figure if the white trash won't let me in or become part of their club I'll try with someone else, and for the record I already sent my dues and application to the TLCA last friday.

It's just to bad Texican that I did not react sooner to become part of this club.

hope to hear from you soon.

Man, TLCA chapters are kinda like little churches some times, aren't they? :grinpimp:

I guess probably because they are both populated with those darn rascally humans:doh:
