I have posted a few times with questions I have been unable to find answer for using the search function and have had outstanding success with the replies......thanks to all of the great feed back y'all provide. I have also had great success with the search function that answered other questions.

Now, for another question that search did not help with.......

I have a Jan 72 production FJ40, looks to be original, but therein lies the question. How can I find out how my 72 "should have" left the factory? Roll bar or no roll bar, what type/color side view mirrors, rear heater no rear heater, 3 speed on the column or floor..etc. What options WERE available for the early 72 production.

I really did not intend to start off as a "purist" but as I think my 40 is closer to original than not, I thought I might as well try to keep it/get it back to, as near as possible, original.

Thanks again for all of the knowledge y'all have and openly share,
make a noob like me able keep another FJ40 on the road.

SOR.com will show pretty decent images of what was typical/stock for your year. If you have an oddity, post a photo here, and others will chime in in agreement or comment otherwise. The few factory options were things like color, PTO winch, radio, rear heater, hard/softtop, etc.

Start by posting up many pictures of your truck; people will tell you what you want to know about it.

By the way, 09/73 was when Toyota started installing "roll bars" in the 40 series in the USA.

I also have a Jan. '72 FJ40. It should be 3 speed on the floor, no roll bar and I don't have jump seats but a bench between the wheel wells. Hope this helps and is correct.

yep, 3 speed on the floor, rear heater, long jump seats in the back.
I am curious as to side view mirrors, were they attached to the door or the windshield frame? What type of bumpers were on the front and that type of stuff.

Thanks all. I will post up a few pictures soon.

Hope everyone has a great 4th.
