You’ve recently been to the desert, on a horse with no name... right Mark?

While camping alone, I tend to mull over the meaning of my life.

The unexamined life is not worth living—Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Two years ago, I returned with the realization that what we hold most in awe about nature is its majestic indifference to humanity.

This last trip to Death Valley reminded me that I feel the pulse of nature in a place most people assume has none.

I hope to return to the desert next week. The Trump administration has asked the BLM to take another look at sites for solar projects, so I have more work to do there as well. Even though my term as a Councilman has expired, because Trump froze all the Councils after the election I am apparently still a member until they appoint a replacement.

Hear, hear!!

I always wanted to go “... to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.”

Henry David Thoreau

It’s fun to sit perfectly still and see how nature comes awake.

The beauty of nature is it’s propensity to give, unbidden, the adventure of a lifetime, every time one makes an effort.

Keep after them Mark!!

Anyone who talks to his dog and takes him places can't be all bad.

To be clear... I talk whether my dogs are there or not. But, whenever they are with me, they listen with rapt attention, hanging on every word.

All I do is drive, talk and sing... Chester navigates.

I’m not sure how this hasn’t made it to chat yet.

I carry a basic set of ratchet wrenches, 1/4” and 3/8” socket sets, all metric. When I rebuilt my rig I paid special attention to fastener sizes. Kept it simple.

Fluke multimeter.
Screwdrivers.
Whiskey.
Fly rod/reel and all the gear.
Maybe a few other tools.........

It ain’t gone yet, but it’s getting there.

I carry rubbing alcohol, for sterilizing my tools, before touching 44 with them. No whiskey.

Compressor under the hood and a 4-way air line, with gauge... to air up ... and a set of deflation valves... all in a bag, hanging from my DS headrest.

New pair of nylons... for filtering insects in 44’s snorkel, before they get to the air filter... that’s my story...
