Well, it’s finally happening.

The Dream Pig showed up today!

After months of searching and a few false starts, the rust free, California edition, super clean, bad transmission, great deal, ‘73 Hog has landed here in Tuscaloosa today.

As it sits today:
1973 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55 “Iron Pig”
Chebby 350, 700R4 (broken)
Twin stick Toyota t-case
Saginaw PS swap
Four wheel disc brakes
Vintage Air AC (possibly in-op?)
Pretty good window rubber all around
Bucket seats (power!!)
New carpet with sound deadening
Radio works
Dome light works
Gages seem to all work
Back window works
.....damn, what a beauty...

so, this is my
1) Dream Build of 20 years of driving Toyotas

Oh, this is gonna be good. I am talking with Jason on his brackets too. What OME springs you going with up front? Stock height, medium, heavy or Js? I'll be sub'd to this one for sure.

not sure. I have some stock, OME 2.5” and Js here at the shop.

think the mediums will be just right for the weight. Add a spacer if needed. 3-4” lift to clear 35”s I think.

I have gone through a few trucks looking for the perfect base to start with, and this is it. Tons of parts here already, more paid for and just waiting to show up.

Duuuude awesome build plan. So I have a set of Chevy seats that I was gonna put in mine too. Anyway to get some pix of how yours are mounted?

I’ll get them today.

In theory, I like a bench seat in an old truck, but after 20mins (or 3 days) of driving, adjustable buckets with arm rest are going to be nice honestly.

This is going to be a road trip machine and not garage queen. The seats, suspension, motor, huge gas tank, everything is set up for long distance travel.

The prior owner is a really nice guy and did good work to it. Got a great deal because the trans is toast and would cost $$$ in CA to get fixed.

@RUSH55

These are Trail Tailer’s pics on an FJ60. I’ll have to modify it some, but it will save a ton of grinding and cutting and headache from swapping over the stock 80 buckets and mounts.

it’s all time or money as I see it. This set up will save me enough time that it was worth the $. This will not be a 2-3 year project to get going.

I may just stay with Saginaw? It’s already in place:hmm: ive never used it before and not familiar with its issues, if any. I can tell you the 1/2 mile I’ve driven the truck that the PS is strong way better than the stock steering in my ‘69.
