my 81 will not start! it has been setting up for a while, i thought it was the battery that was the problem, so i charged it overnight went to instail it today and the car would not even turn over. I checked the voltege with a volt meter and it read a little over 12 v. If its starter does it have an internal or external regulater.

Check the cables for corrosion. Have starter checked for free at Auto Zone. MIke
