I rolled 136,000 miles on my way home last night and the "D" light promptly burned out.. :flipoff2:  :flipoff2:

I really had no idea how irritating that would be...;p

Time to install the new dash pad, center vents and some bulbs, I guess...:ban:

OMFG!

From the title of your thread, i was thinkin', "Holy ****, Dan's head gasket went!" :D

It's worse than that......

The dash pad costs twice as much as a valvegrind set....

I had that happen and a search indicated hitting the top of the dash above the speedo. I did that and sure enough it came back on.

That is the "Wulf" method of anger management....:grinpimp:

Against my better judgement, I tried this on the 97 when I got it. Didn't work.

So, how much time does it take to replace? Anyone have a quick and dirty description? I've been putting it off as dash work usually ends up irritating, causing other problems, and staring at a leftover screw and scratching one's head...

I can have the cluster out and back in with the new bulb changed in about 30 minutes with the wife nagging me the whole time about some crap she wants me to do. Definately a worse condition senario.

LOL!...:D

If she didn't have that step, she couldn't get in to talk to you...

I have two teenage daughters. Lots of anger to manage:D

Dan, I just tapped lightly on the clear plastic instrument panel shield and it came back on. That was like 10K ago. HTH

Welcome to the no "D" club. I prefer the lack of lit "D". When I drive the wife's 80 -- I find the lit "D" in her rig to be a distraction -- especially when driving at night.

I prefer that it doesn't light up. Less light inside (I dim my lights nearly all the way down while driving at night) improves night vision.

I guess I hang out in chat too often...Why a new dash pad? Did the arid NM climate take it's toll? Other anger management sessions gone awry?

It cracked about 2 months ago. Right in front of where I look out..

Actually, Dan was in his rig looking out and his wife stepped out of the garage and noticed his new Slee bumper he bought while she was out of town. She looked up with those wife eyes (Those who are married know what I am talking about) and laser singed the dash making a crack.
