jeez dude, I thought your placard was gunna say Guam based on your dialect; must be getting close to harvest time up there?

we're gunna need to know what year your fj60 is before we can tell you if that tranny will fit the bill.

ebay is a kind of last ditch supplier for many...

that gearbox is in Gainsville Florida- you know where Florida is, right? Muricas dongle...on the wrong coast...

you need to talk to this guy>

or even check out Craigslist for local part-outs.

basically, yes, replacement transmission goes between existing clutch housing with a new clutch and surfaced flywheel and new rear mainseal- because what would a guy get in there for and not service those things?- and the existing transfercase. the fj60 had 3 transmissions it might have been fitted with. the short H42, the long H42 and the H55 5 speed. the long H42 and the H55 are the same dimensions so their drive shafts work in either gearbox (but should have u joints checked/replaced and be balanced while they're off), the short H42 would use different shafts due to its flanges locations in relation to the diff flanges, make sense? so up till mid year 85(called an 84 by Toyota) the fj60 had the short H42 and the transfercase had 34mm idler shaft. After mid-year 85, they had the long H42 and the transfercase had 38mm idler shafts. Now the 34 and the 38 mm idler transfercases can be used on either transmission and wont affect the driveshaft length but might have a different flange bolt pattern, so pay attention...you are close to some well renound Cruiser Mechanics, too, so you should look into local mud certified wrenchers, as well. HTH. Oh and his name is @orangefj45

Just an FYI. That ebay seller is @mel lowe and I would PM him to get the skinny on the transmission. I buy quite a bit from him and have never received a bad part. In fact, most of the time I'm pleasantly surprised at how good the parts actually are more often than not. He is extremely knowledgeable, open and honest with myself and everyone I have ever referred to him.

If he has it for sale and the listing doesn't state "for parts only" I'd say it was in good working condition when he pulled it.

But, its as simple as PM'ing him for details.

X2 on mel-lowe, actually; he's trying hard to make up for the rest of the state...I'd buy from him anytime...

That's good info J. I always saw stuff come up from that seller under my eBay searches but never knew.

Yes Mel is great to deal with. Nothing but positive experiences for me personally and obviously the same goes for others.

I guess it got away and it was also a low gear tranny? Not even sure, I posted because it was an auction and time was short not because I had any kind of harvest.

So far I dont think I can afford a 5 speed and there no local part outs in my small area unless its a fellow mud head that I dont know about.

sorry man; just makin fun...check out the ih8mud classifieds and maybe post a wanted ad in the ih8mud wanted section. Just sayin that there are prolly transmissions closer to you than you think...and what year is your rig?

Hmmmm.... When I click on the emerald triangle in your location it takes me to emerald triangle glass works ... With all those bongs on the shelf, I'm beginning to understand ...

:smokin:

near redding 96001, I did not put emerald triangle glassworks, not sure how that went down.
I ask stupid questions because I almost purchased that transmission. I see cheap and think thats it!
