Is this port supposed to be on the bottom of the tank?

Just wondering because I have not seen it on any part diagram.

I think it depends on the year. The tank I took out of my ‘73 did not have that bottom port. The replacement tank I put in (out of a (‘75) had it. I used the one on the bottom for supply and capped the side one.

I just looked at your pic again. Are you referring to the taped off ports or the thing that looks like a bolt in the bottom?

I think the port on the bottom corner of the tank is the supply line and the threaded one on the side of the tank is the return.

Got it in one, except the side return port is not threaded. For those that haven't looked closely at all of your soft fuel hoses, I recommend that you do. I found one was severely rotted, while I was replacing all soft fuel hoses, and checking hard lines as part of my tank cleaning and POR-15 coating process. Also a good time to stock up on fuel filters.
