Is this NE 200 worth the price and rust

Here’s the link on carugurus

I’m seeing some people criticize some listings in the northeast that have some rust underneath. I’m not sure what’s considered okay or a bit premature since my 80 has seemingly has the same amount of rust but came from the south so I’m lucky.

He said nothing to his knowledge has been replaced besides brakes, oil, tie rods, some recalls, a seat and a seatbelt

Normally I'd say "if you have to ask, it's probably too much". But...

Are you planning to mod it or drive it as-is?

I'm not up on current pricing, but if you're not planning to modify it or keep it for 30 years then it's fine, I wouldn't worry, it's no worse than any other vehicle up there.

If you are planning to work on it or keep it forever, the rust on some of those bolts will make wrenching a PITA.

Honestly not really. Just throw some beefy 33’s on if they’ll fit, front and rear ARB, roof rack. Use it for camping trips and super light trail. There’s not enough for sale over here to gauge how good the price is. I know someone listed an 08 LC by a dealer for 22k with 200k and they were ripping on the rust and the price.

I would prob intend to keep it for quite some time if I pull the trigger on it. But if that rust is ok, I can just get those bolts off now and hit em with anti seize

I purchased my 08 in 2018 for $25k with 99k, so the price overall is not bad. Has the 100/120k scheduled AND preventative maintenance been performed since this will add another $1000-$2,000 +/- off the rip, potentially. I was new to the 200 at the time, but I would have negotiated down had I found the forum before I purchased and knew about the 100k mile "inheritance tax".

I'm not dialed into the latest pricing and can't comment.

For the rust, I wouldn't have problem buying it for your needs.

Hah is the 100k inheritance tax the service cost at 100k for like water pump and belts or something?

Yup, add radiator and so on...Not that this is a problem. After that you're good for another 50-60k before any in-depth service. I just wanted to point out if you can, get that price down to accommodate. It wasn't in my arsenal at the time.

He’s at 125k but I did ask to see if the radiator and water pump had been done since I had seen it’s going to go anywhere at 100-175 or something. He says to his knowledge it hasn’t been replaced. He’s only had it since 2016 and doesn’t have records prior, that’s the issue. And there just seems to be so few out there it’s hard to compare prices. Especially without driving like 8+ hours west or south

Good to know. It seemed mostly surface and then a tad bit beyond that for the most part

It doesn't seem that cheap. I'm not up on current prices, but I was looking at a mostly built 2008 TLC with 125K $30k a couple years ago. It had bumpers lockers 34s gears etc. . . .

Your pics are of a Lexus LX570, not a Toyota LC200.

Just sayin' 🤷‍♂️

Sorry, I meant the truck has 125k. Even then though...there is an identical one not too far north with 20k more miles, but like $3000 less

If the raised flat spot on top of the radiator where the part # is marked is a rectangle and has 90 degree seams to the top of the radiator then it doesn't matter if it's been replaced it will fail again. If the raised spot is rounded at the radiator (the raised part is still 90 degrees at the top) then it's a newer radiator design and might be good "forever". In your case it's likely even if it was replaced (which it might not have been) that it's the old design which is still failure prone since I think the updated design came out in 2018

Sorry, I meant, "Is This Northeast Bougie 200 worth the price/rust?"

Just to be clear - the Land Cruiser is a 200 Series and the Lexus is a 201 Series.

I know, who cares?

HTH

I actually didn’t know that thank you! I would’ve just kept calling it a 570, assuming it’s still considered a 200 gen or platform

Not to :deadhorse: , but...

The LC200 is a 200 Series. The LX570 is a 201 Series. You can call a LX570 a 570, but you can't call it a 200 as you did in your thread title.

:poof:

Same with 100 series LC & LX? 100 and 101?
