29 years of ownership and 294K on my 1988 FJ62. I have always changed my own oil without a hitch.

However, after dumping out the spent oil, I noticed this in the bottom of my oil drain pan.

Is this going to be an issue when I screw in the plug with a gasket?

Should I try to reattach/epoxy back in with High Temp Epoxy?

That chunky stuff around the hole is old gasket. Scrape it off with a putty knife or chisel. Put a magnet to that piece that broke off - you’ll see that it’s not made of metal.

A new oil pan drain hole looks like the picture below:
