Found this on another toyota forum and wanted to share with the mudh8rs. Hope it's not a repost. I am almost positive this is a 105. In any case, it is a hell of a vehicle. I love the stripped look. But school me on this: how can one tell if it's a 105 without seeing the front axle? Just curious.

if that is a hdt-fte block it's not, just a stripped 100/101.

105's come in 1FZE and 1HZ engines only, zero turbos, no v8's, etc.

From just looking at the exterior and not the actual axle, you can often identify 105's by the offset of the wheels. They use 0 offset (more of a deepdish look) while the 100's use 60mm offset (more of a flush look). The vehicle pictured looks like a 100 to me though I am not sure. Easier to tell with the stock alloys.

Hard to tell w/o a pic of underneath the front of the vehicle. I don't think merely having a 1FZ engine guarantees it's a 105, as the for a number of years, I think the 100's Down Under (and JDM 100's) came w/ the 1FZ while we've only had the V8 here. Those FZJ100's were also available w/ 5spd manual. The HDJ100 was also available w/ 5spd manual in Japan in the early years before Toyota stopped selling manual 100's/Prado's there.

I think 105's are 6-lug too, aren't they?

that's a crazy rear hatch set up!

Barn doors.

I thought it was pretty cool too, but it doesn't look like barn doors (ala Tahoe/Suburban) per se, but rather "barn glass". Looks to me like the hatch is one piece. Anybody know how this actually works i.e. does the glass flip up?

Australian spec 105s comes in 2 variations ,Standard(STD) or GXL
The STD are always white or non mettalic paint with barn doors and grey vinyl int while the GXL comes in the same colours as a UZJ100 and has a 2 piece hatch and velour int.
Both are solid axle.
Some STD have side facing seats in the rear cargo section and all STD are 3 seater front seats, basically the same seats as the 60 and 70 series
You cant get a turbo diesel with solid axle:mad:

The one pictured at the beginning of this thread has barn doors like this one.

I guess there is a seam there between the doors, huh? Didn't look like it at first.

ennhhhh-

I said 105's come in FZJ or HZJ

no live axle UZJ or HDJ --I am positive not a production piece others might be made by special order $$$ or political clout.

Did not say anything about 100/101's (FZJ, UZJ, HDJ)

click country, then models , then specifications

panama for instance:

have fun-while the australian market shows a HZJ100, it's a live axle which would make it a 105 technically.

huh? what's a Fortuner? is that the new look of the Sequoia

looks like they have a:
Fortuner
4runner
Prado

No relation to the sequoia at all. The Fortuner is being built on the Hilux Vigo platform. They're built in Thailand and Argentina.

Saw it at the dealer, and it looks really cool.

Even their naming conventions are messed up. In South Africa the 105 (as it is called in Oz) is marketed as a 100 GX. 100 Series body, two solid axles, and either 1FZ-FE or 1HZ 6 cyl. engine.

I think they still have 105 on their body plate.
I seem to remember going through this with someone else and that was the outcome.
