Hello,

I was wondering if there is a Short Shifter for a 4speed FJ40 ?

I google'd and didnt find any results so far.

Geez, only thing I can think is if you shortened your present lever then the distance the shift knob has to travel from gear to gear will be reduced. I know, that's not quite the answer you were looking for.

Just cut it down and cut new threads on top for the shifter ball

... If and when you ever sell your cruiser the next owner will think all cruisers were that way and never know any different until he looks on mud for awhile lol :)

Wondering....

What is your reasoning for a shorter shifter?

Perhaps he's looking for a short-throw shifter ?? No one makes one that I'm aware of and this is a true truck transmission - it cannot be shifted very quickly without doing damage , parts are pretty heavily built in these things . Think more along the lines of a grain truck or something...

I would like a shorter throw when shifting similar to my Land Rover Defender. If there is nothing available for the 40 then I can live with it no problem

I assumed that's what you meant but like I said, it would require a whole new redesigned top cover since the position of the pivot ball in relation to the bottom end of the stick has to get longer. Not to mention you'd need a new stick.
