Guys, I had my mechanic, who is a Toyota specialist, replace my stock AHC torsion bars with Iroman TB, springs and shocks. The issue I'm having is the adjustment arm and bolt for the TBs, hang entirely too low. He's gotten a couple of turns on the bolt, so they are in there tight. But the adjustment arm hangs low and is at risk of being sheered off on an offroad trail. I believe my mechanic indexed the TB's when he installed them, he told me he did. Any thoughts of how i can solve this, or do others with aftermarket TB's have the same issue?

Yup, take it back and tell him to do it “correctly”. Normally I would call this reindexing. How ever in the case on new tbars it’s just about installing them correctly so that the lever does not hang low or that there are not enough threads turned into the nuts or that an adjustable part is not in the center of its adjustment range.

I have done re-indexing once, new T bars installed once and new LCA’s installed in June 2019. That’s 3 times to take it in and out to get it right.

I sympothize that is a pain to get it “just right” where the adjusted position of the lever is in the right best position. However that’s just what it takes to do it or in your case be professional. IMO.

Is front height where you want it, with sufficient droop? If so, May have to re-index the bars by 2-3 splines via the bracket at the control arm. Also, make sure the front tires are off the ground, with no load on the suspension, and all weight supported by frame on stands if turning the adjusting bolt.

Thanks guys, I installed it sometime back. Anyone have any suggestions of shops to take the Land Cruiser to in Southern California?

I also have Ironman torsion bars, although not these, but the ones for the diesel (slightly longer).
They are marked on the splines & so are the anchors (missing a spline). If everything is lined up properly, the adjusters sits correctly. I'd say they are off a good 2-3 splines in order to look like this.
Also make sure, they have installed them on the correct side (left is left, right is right for the tbars (not for the springs though)).
Edit: looking at the pictures, it seems like the sides are correct at least for the tbars:)

It's not a big deal to reindex them (properly) if they're not rust-welded to the anchors yet, but a proper car lift makes it so much easier and safer.

thanks, I will take a look at them. Sounds like I need to re-indexed them and find a local shop will.

Ha! I was just thinking the same thing. So many posts and no call out for what looks like a Shelby Daytona in the background....

Only because you insisted! :)

Well that certainly looks more fun than my 100. A straight up bucket list car. I mean, I've had side-oilers... but they weren't supposed to be ;)
Thanks for posting pics.

It is fun, lots of track days and lots of car shows. But I can't say it's more fun than being out and about with the 100, with the kids and enjoying nature! It's more of an adrenalin rush with the Coupe and more fun with the 100...
