Not a fan of their stuff myself, but in case anyone else is: I received an email flier saying they have a site wide 25% off sale for Labor Day, code LABOR25.

Let me know if you see something for Dobinson 😎

I happen to think the Ironman stuff is well made and well priced. I bought their 6' alloy roof rack for my 80 Series and I really like it. I don't know about their shocks/springs.

Excellent. Sounds like you might benefit from the code I posted.

100% agree that it is well priced. Let's just agree to disagree on the "well made" part. It fills a need in the market.

I’ve only had them a few months but I’m pleased with the medium load 220-880# rear springs. (Aside from the bright green color, but that’s cosmetic). Can’t speak to anything else though

Ironman things I’ve used personally
The folding galvanized camp toilet - very good. Highly recommend.
The shower awning /change room thing thing - ok. Nothing specifically I can point to, but it could be better overall.
The 12k winch - good so far. Has good long term reports, but my experience is very short (installed not wired).

A lot of their stuff seems like ARB knockoffs. I suspect that’s part of the perception. Not that it is actually a knock off, just that ARB blazes a trail and then Ironman and others repeat it

IMO it has more to do with how they market themselves. They constantly have 20-30% off sales. Their stuff is on "sale" more than they are not on sale. It's just one after the other. It's clear the actual cost of their products is closer to the sale price than it is their MSRP which seems inflated. You rarely see Dobinsons or ARB on sale. Yes they are an ARB copy but in many ways so is Dobinsons. I think their niche is to undercut those two on price because they know they can't necessarily compete in terms of quality or performance. Still it makes them look kinda cheap in comparison when they have all these sales. If they don't have a current sale going on, just wait two weeks and there will be one.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy some of their non truck specific products. I think their awnings and some of their camping stuff is fine since those are sourced from the same factories in China anyways. But when it comes to suspension, bumpers, and recovery gear I'd probably look elsewhere unless I was doing a budget build.

The Foam Cell suspension is their best part. It doesn't have the bling of an adjustable RR setup, but its designed to last and not to fade during heavy use. And anything that has a bushing is OEM spec, not hard poly. I'm picking up a Stage 3 kit for the 2004 LX next week to replace the failed AHC.

I wish their skids fit 200s earlier than 2015.
How could they not fit? Isn't every 200 made on the same platform? I bet they just haven't tried it, so can't commit to it. Have you seen people post that they don't fit? Every other brand seems to fit all years.

Has anyone compared the Ironman winch to the HF Badlands? They're both similarly priced with the discount.

I'm somewhat weight conscious and eliminated the Apex Badlands based on that factor.

This thread I found pretty interesting, many of these brands have a small US presence and can be obtained with some effort.

AFAIK, the Ironman is the only winch with a breather port that can be routed to a high point. The death of a winch is water ingress. A hot winch that then goes into cold water is a recipe for sucking in moisture, regardless of how good the seals claim to be. By getting it to breath like a differential you eliminate that risk.

I'd place the Ironman up with any of the mid-level winches. Wouldn't say that Harbor Freight was an equivalent.

According to the specs, the Iroman is heavier than the badlands. The Ironman has better warranty according to the list though, which is a major advantage.

Maybe you’re looking at the steel cable weights. The synthetic is 62lb. Badlands is around 85 if I recall. The carbon is the lightest, around 50 lb.

The badlands with synthetic rope is 58.9lbs. The Iroman is 64lbs. This is according to the specs on their respective websites.

Excellent update on the Badlands weight. I guess they have clarified package vs winch weight recently.
