Hey y'all, I bought a Nomad 1300 last week and it arrived in 5 days! Incredible delivery time for sure despite the current world situation. I know this is terribly random but I thought, on the off chance, that perhaps someone here has done the same thing.
I bought a Frontrunner Slimline 2 full length roof rack. I also bought the Frontrunner quick disconnect clamps. I thought (didn't think it all the way through, lol) that the Nomad would easily mate to the Frontrunner system. Ironman only supplied me with crossbar rack mounting equipment though with the tent. Would have been perfect had that been the route I took.
However, I was just wondering if anyone here did the same thing and did you need the Frontrunner HArd Shell mounting bars to complete your install? It will add another inch to the total height of the car/roofrack/tent assembly...sigh. Is there perhaps a nifty clamp system that integrates with the Fronturrner system? I know, I know, FR makes a soft top tent that weighs 80 lbs, but my wife wanted comfort and convenience and this was a good deal I got on Easter.
I'm stuck with this situation as I explored a clam shell James Baroud (non XL) and it was too short for me and I didn't feel like spending $5000 for a first time roof top tent. I spent $2100 total with shipping and it's a queen size bed in there. I'm stoked. Any mech heads' advice I'd greatly appreciate. These are the photos of the hardware involved. The quick disconnect piece that goes on the tent isn't the same width as the mounting pieces from Ironman ( the holes are a smidge off).
