So here is a quick shot of one of my prototypes. The final version will be a bit different but you get the idea. I totally redesigned my dash insert product to be significantly stronger. It can now handle much heavier objects being mounted to it. I had to redesign how things attached and also added a new backing plate that snaps onto the back of large objects once they pass through the bezel. The phone mount will break before the bezel breaks.

Have you released this yet? Does it mount in the pocket above the radio?

That is really weird that two threads popped up within minutes of each other about the hole on the dash. I finished up prototyping today and just finished mocking up the final design. Here is the final version. I'm getting ready to head out for two weeks of camping and fishing in the Sierras. When I get back I will be starting production on these. They should show up on my website around the first week of July. I also redesigned the old dash insert to be a lot stronger so it could easily support the added weight a phone and mount. I tried the phone mount on the old style insert and it had zero issues. It's still on the local 80 after a month and he reported no issues BUT the new mount is MUCH stronger and designed to take the phone mount. I added a backing plate with 4 screws to make sure the phone could not be pulled out of the insert. You have to install the backing plate first then slide the entire unit into the dash and then reuse the 2 factory screws. Install took me a couple minutes. If your a blind monkey then maybe 5 minutes.

So here is the backside with the hardware installed. With 4 screws and a backing plate there is no way that phone mount will be pulling out the plug.

The reason for the location was that I wanted a spot that didn't cover the clock or stereo from the driver seat and I wanted the ac vents to not be blocked in any way. This got the phone far enough off the dash to address all of those clearance issues.

Cool. I like it. How much ?

I have lowered the pricing on my current dash bezel and inserts. In the design process of this new design I figured out how to make all of the parts in a quicker and more affordable way. The phone mount with dash bezel and blank plug will be in the $35-$40 range and the free shipping and mud discount will still apply.

That's great. Count me in. I've been mulling over putting a phone mount in that spot and then removed the little pocket and of course it broke. Just bought your cup holders and then saw this. Excellent timing.

I'm in for one from Australia - will it work OK RHD dash ??????????

Scosche magnet mount from Walmart. Super strings. Stays on during real trail riding and was like 15 bucks. I have 2 in the cruiser and 2 in the tundra.

I assume it would mount without issue but a pic of your dash would allow me to give you a definitive answer.

B, will this piece work for the new iphone holder? I bought this one a few months ago I think.

I installed one on my old bezel and it has held up fine but I can't guarantee it if sufficient with the added weight of the phone. There is no backign plate or rear screws. It's just being held in with the two tabs from the insert. A couple dabs of super glue on each tab would probably be sufficient but It was never designed for that type of weight. If you decide to order a phone mount just shoot me a PM and I can give you a significantly reduced price on a new bezel. Basically I will charge you for the cost of the plastic. I would feel better knowing you have a bezel designed for the weight of a phone.

For an update the final prototype (the one in the pics) got shipped out to a mud member yesterday for a real world test. He will be taking it on the Rubicon with him and will report back. That will be perfect timing to make any changes if needed before I start production on them.

I'll pm you. And pkease.. No pink.

Just ordered your phone holder and bezel with one accessory plug. Does that mean I'm just getting one cutout in bezel to install my own plug? thanks, and I'm a repeat customer.

If you ordered the phone mount and plug then you will get the bezel, a plug, and a phone mount. There will be no hole BUT you can remove the plug at any point and add whatever button you want down the road.
