Hey all -

Quick question for those of you running the IPF harness. It has to run across the front of the engine bay, just wondering where you put it in your 40.

I was thinking across the front, between the grille and bezel, like this:

Obviously more cleanly in the final install.

My concern is that the harness will get too hot, due to the close proximity to the radiator - any thoughts?

The other option is under the bib/radiator like this:

Just curious how everyone else does it.

Also - is there a good place to cleanly mount the relays/fuse?

I have some options but I'm not loving them. Curious to see where you guys put them.

Thanks!

I put mine across the top - between the mesh and the hood above the radiator - zip tied to the mesh. I mounted the relays on the passenger inner fender. Five years later, it's all still working fine.

Thanks! I acrually read your review from 5 years ago when considering this purchase.

Hmm, didn't think about across the top - I just assumed that the hood would crush it.

Mine is where you have it, works great, many years now.

Frame rail down low. Put it there on both my 40 and my 60. Plenty of slack. Relays on both vehicles are on the passenger fender area. A few well placed wire ties and you will not see it and it should last for a long time.

Yeah, there is definitely sufficient slack - my main question down there is where to put the wire ties - I didn't see any real obvious holes or mounting points. I can certainly take a look around next time I'm at the truck, but I would also be curious to hear where you tied them in.

Based on how the harness is set up, it sounds like the passenger side fender is really the only option, I just didn't know if someone had figured out somewhere else clever to put them. Not a fan of boring holes I don't have to, but in the case, it seems like the best option.

Yes, those clips are very flexible and surprisingly resilient. I forget where I used wire ties. Sorry, I don't remember what I did yesterday anymore!
