IP drive gear alignment

llo Diesel People,
In the process of installing the rebuilt injector pump on my 1hdt. I needed to rotate the pump shaft in order to line it up with the key way. I'm working on the timing gear side and noticed the ip drive gear has rotated clockwise. Here's a picture.

The knock pin should be lined up with the black mark. Can I rotate the pump shaft/pump drive gear counter clockwise and realign the knock pin and black mark?
