I know this is a really minor complaint but it is one of the very few things left I am interested in possibly changing on my HDJ81. Right now, it has one intermittent wiper speed (front wipers), and it's pretty quick. Almost every modern vehicle has an adjustable intermittent wiper if not at least 2 speeds. Has anyone else made the change to a variable intermittent wiper switch? If so, how and what fits?

You may want to look for one from a 91, mine has settable speed. HTH!

That does help. Just to confirm, do you mean a variable intermittent setting on the stalk where you turn it up or down? Mine is different. To go to intermittent, you pull the wiper stalk down one notch, and that is it for your intermittent speeds, in other words, one setting and it is fast.

Mine is the one on the picture... 4 intermittent speed settings.

No, 4 notches.

BTW, what size wiper and type you use? The ones that were on whaen I got it were 20 inch OEMs - I put on 20 inch Reflex, but find they lift a bit in the wind.

On another subjetc, Martin, I'll have a few questions regarding fuel consumption I'll be posting in a new thread. Hope you can help there, as I've noticed your very many useful posts about fuel economy and power when you got it...

Thanks, great picture. That's exactly what I'd like to do. I may be attempting to have that lever retrofitted down the road.

Thanks, great picture.

I always try to make my pictures very clear and easy to understand. I use photgraphy every day in my work. I'm preparing a little script to process pictures for uploading to MUD, so that there will be no file size issue. I'll be testing it tonight. Sure will make it easier to simply snap, auto process and upload automatically :)

It is indeed very nice to have that variable speed. Now if it could simply come on by itself based on the amount of water hitting a sensor... Likewise with the defogger, based on the amount od vapour deposited o the indie of the glass... :D

How far we are from the good old FJ40s!!!
