I’ve been having cruise control cut out intermittently over bumps lately and have found it come back if I use my foot to pull the brake pedal towards the driver a few time, cruiser will work again.

My first assumption was the the brake switch was failing, but found the wiring shown below when taking a look.

The brake switch is wired directly to fuse 22, which is:

IGN 10 A: Multiport fuel injection system/
sequential multiport fuel injection
system, anti- lock brake system, SRS
airbag system, seat belt pretensioners,
discharge warning light

according to:

What was the PO up to here?

Did you ever figure out what was going on?

I have not, but without this wire, I don't have cruise. So in lieu of having time to dig in and understand this, I've reworked with a new wire and solder, which has solved my intermittent cruise issue for the most part. A new brake switch may be in order for 100% resolve the issue, but it's at least reliable for now.

Small update, this issue has continued. I've ordered an OEM brake light switch from the dealer, after reading poor reviews on Amazon for Beck/Arnley and AC Delco switches. Hopefully, this solves the issue, because I'll need cruise driving from Ohio to Utah next week. 🤞
