Does anyone have a recommendation for a good wall receptacle plug in timer....I use them for low wattage lights and the Intermatics (model TN111) don't last more than 6 months .. I have about 8 of them running various lights and at least once every 3-4 months one of them seems to be packing it in...The big metal box jobs by Intermatic that I use on the pump timers etc seem to be bulletproof. But the little plastic wall units are not cutting it.

The same is used by many manufactures for low voltage landscaping transformers and I have had one in use for years with no issues.

How many have you gone through?
Have you checked the voltage at the outlet you are plugging into?
Strange you are only getting 3-4months. I would at the least buy your timers from Lowes so you can return when they do fail.

Well from memory ... 4 .... (I have blown at least one other - an independent brand eg not Intermatic which I don't count) and one of them (Intermatic) was at another property/township. I know we are getting pretty regular power outages at the "farm" which is why I use the mechanical timers. I suppose that could be it... - just looking for something that can stand this sort of service ...... (as mentioned, the metal boxes and the two outdoor units housed in water proof plastic boxes -- these have the pointer with the big wheel that turns and small "flags" that are screwed in place to set the on/off times - work great)

Maybe the "low voltage" service you mention fro landscapers is one reason for the long service life ... my wall receptacle timers are 115V but low draw (never more than 60w) Incidentally . I have a NOMA 0644 that seems to be running ok as I just noticed .. maybe I have answered my own question???
