Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on a good upholstery shop? Any recommendations for a good local source for new OEM parts?

The inside of my LX was very well used by the previous family that owned it. I have vacuumed the interior a number of times, and it seems like random food crumbs ooze out of the seems when I am driving. The seats and seat-belts are well worn.

I am looking at getting my seats re-covered black and will probably replace the carpet as well. While I am at it, will probably get some seat warmers installed for the front seats. Thinking of painting the plastic hardware on the seats black to match, and probably replace the seat belts with some black ones.

Would be looking at OEM seat belts for the front row if I could get them in black. Given it's out of Toyota's parts bin, I am thinking that is possible. I am looking at OEM for the first row for the silly seat-belt light that comes on if you don't have your belt on. The second and third row I could go with anything that will work.

I appreciate and suggestions or advice you guys might have.

Thanks!

Will

Will,

I haven't had work done in particular, but I've seen this shop many times in person ( granted 6 years ago when my work took me there).

They are family owned. Give them a call or drop by there. I'm sure there are other shops in the Tacoma area, but this is one I know of and always seems loaded with cool projects. Good luck!

The 91-97 80 series landcruisers only came with grey or tan interior belts. Don't think other series landcruisers will fit. You can search here on mud, but think you will come short on answers. Dying it black might be the only option. Speaking only of US spec models. Maybe the HDJs & HZJs had other colors. Rare interior's. Good luck.

Thanks for the shop link JDubble. Will have to see what they can do.

busmup808, thanks for the info. I know that grey and tan were the only two facotry interiors here in the US. I am just looking for some OEM seat belts in black that might work. I have a 1993 Lexus ES300 that has facotry black interior, but not sure that they would work in the LX. I was hoping to find some black seatbelts that would work, perhaps from a non-FZJ model that uses the same seatbelt design.

I am open to any other input or recommendations. When I start I will get a post in the 80's tech area.

You are exactly correct. Totally forgot about that. The es300 has alot of parts that the 80s use. The belts might just work. No harm in trying. If you own one, you could just unbolt and try yourself. If it's a winner, than all you got to do is look for a parts car at the junk yard. Good luck
