Interesting. It looks like Toyota and Lexus are behind the Pack when it comes to Fast Charging. I did a quick search on this so numbers are what I found and not stating 100% fact as an expert

Fast Charging is where Toyota/Lexus flails compared to the competition for a full EV. A Plug In Hybrid would be different as that is EV for 40 miles and then gas for longer trips.

The difference even larger when you consider that that most of the other vehicles have longer range and bigger batteries than the 182 mile Toyota. This means 80% on Tesla/KIA/BMW is 192 miles range in 16-18 minutes of charging vs 80% for Toyota/Lexus 145 miles range in 64 minutes

Most like to claim they can get to 80% of charging capacity in 20 minutes from 10%. About the time of a rest stop at a gas station

The Toyota took 63 minutes -"It started off at 62kW, quickly ramped up to 65kW and sustained until around 33 percent and started to plummet. In 20 minutes time, the EV got from 5 percent to 40 percent (~80 miles EPA range), and it took 64 minutes to charge to 80 percent. Remember, the bZ4X AWD has an EPA range of 228 miles, so 80 percent of that is only 182 miles. And at this point, I hope you won't need extra energy to reach your destination, because charging from 80 percent to 90 percent takes an additional 36 minutes. And forget about charging beyond 90 percent to full—since the charging rate drops to 1kW, and it will take 7 hours."

From Lexus site that’s about 33% so consistent with Toyota on timing to 80% - "Level 3 fast chargers are the most efficient and can be found at commercial locations. Level 3 can charge about 60-80 miles of range in about 20 minutes, making it a good choice for any EV when a quick charge is needed on the go."

Ioniq 5 15-18 minutes -"The entire session takes more than 18 minutes (10-80% SOC), but the 20% to 80% SOC took just over 15 minutes"

Tesla 16 minutes

BMW 18 minutes

Ford 18 minutes

Mercedes 17 min

Then there is this update: Toyota unveils sweeping plans for new battery tech, EV innovation - https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/toyota-market-next-gen-battery-evs-2026-built-by-new-ev-unit-2023-06-13/

"TOKYO, June 13 (Reuters) - Toyota (7203.T) will introduce high-performance, solid-state batteries and other technologies to improve the driving range and cut costs of future electric vehicles (EVs), the automaker said on Tuesday, a strategic pivot that sent its shares higher.

The Japanese giant's technology roadmap, covering aspects as varied as next-generation battery development and a radical redesign of factories, amounted to the automaker's fullest disclosure of its plan to compete in the fast-growing market for EVs where it has lagged rivals led by Tesla (TSLA.O).

The plan comes a day before..."
