Long story short current 2F runs great but tired of chasing the leaks.
Currently Cummins has a $1500 discount on their 2.8 crate engine.
or tried and true LS, or if you really want to get crazy go full electric (check out EV west).

I (mechanic) put in an H55 and a rebuilt transfer case last year.

This is driven only in non salt summer months as it is super clean with zero rust or even a hint of a bubble.

Question is where to go? Profitts, Torfab, Thin line Offroad. with all the hubbub on RSO not interested there.
Or have it done locally even though most have never done it. LS swap very commonly done around here.

comment/suggestions are greatly appreciated
thanks.

If you're keen on the Cummins 2.8 turbo diesel, Torfab would definitely be my destination.

x2 on Torfab

I saw @OverLand Cruisers at Expo West this past weekend and they had a 60 there with a R2.8 Cummins in it that he drove down from MT. Looked very clean. Have their own adapters to adapt to H55 and bracketry.

That was Stephen at Overland Cruisers Montana, not us.

Cool kit! He's getting some solid mileage with that 2.8.

We had the two blue 40s, white 60, and Tiny House Tundra :)

My bad, I think I meant @bagochips76 you're right.

(Hijack - those were beautiful 40s you had :D)

Being that it is only driven in the summer months, and it doesn't seem like you're chasing MPG, why not just re-seal the 2F?

Or perhaps rebuild and balance it while you have it out?

As the truck is super straight it might be nice to keep a TEQ mill in it.

Pics?

Howdy Johnny @OverLand Cruisers, hope that you are well. That is a nice looking cruiser for sure. Don't know if I agree with a 2F refresh though :)

BTW Johnny, I pulled Ed (the 62) out of the line today and gave him a good wash down. Trying to light a fire under myself for personal projects.

Hey Stan! You'd put something with way more power that weighs less in it! That is proper math. Not the most practical but I have a soft spot in my heart for the 2F.

So cool about Ed! Are you going with an LS3 with a 4L60E? I can't wait to see your progress. Some day I'll catch up and get after my personal projects as well. :p

Cheers!

I’ve got 312,000 on my 2F and it doesn’t leak anything.

Oem side over gasket, rear main seal, new oil pan and gasket, distributor o ring and valve cover gasket.

I wouldn’t pull a 2F for leaks. I drive mine daily and far more than most, and I’ve got no issues.

New Mexico truck. Midwest interior. Most of above has been done.

Thanks for interest and comments.

Biggest issue is swap cost vs drive time.
At some point should just let it go as it would actually get use some where else. And I have 3 other cruisers.
