I'm installing a Saab intercooler in a BJ74 and thought that before I dump a pile o cash on a few silicone fittings at the local speedshop , I'd check out the ebay offerings. They start at about $75

I wonder if they are even remotely good. Surely some reputable place has a kit that at least says they are aluminum pipes and silicon hoses. Any suggestions? There's lots of companies selling kits like this...

My hyd shop in town sells silicon hose, can be ordered in just about any dia and length. Why not try a shop like that first?

None of pipes will work, will they? Also clamps are cheap.

The silicon heater hose I seen the other day was pretty nice stuff.

It's the silicon 90s specifically that I think I need though I might be able to use the pipe. At Mopac they want $75 for a single 2.5" silicon 90. I think I can work with generic pipe bends if I have some hose to join them. The clamps are cheap for sure. I'd prefer a similar kit if it was quality and 3x the price. I'm going to head down to hose headquarters and metal supermarkets and see what I can find. I can likely bend and weld aluminum if I get thicker wall, non anodized stuff. Fortunately weight isn't a factor with a Cruiser.

Hi, I went with a kit like you got posted the picture of for my intercooler. I got the short 90 degree and 45 or 15 degree silicone bends from.....dang, I can't find who, I thought I had it bookmarket. The 15 degree, I think it was, I got as a 2"-2.5" reducer(?), used it off of the compressor side. Wayne would know since I got the info from him. I wish Icould weld aluminum. Some time this spring I think I will get as much tubing welded as I can. Also, the silicone couplers will not hold real good on polished aluminum, so maybe scuff up the ends real good and then they will hold better.

I bought a few 90 deg 4" elbows off of ebay for my intake system (cummins 6BT turbo inlet is 4"), I wasn't too impressed with the quality and they were about 100$ here shipped (CDN) for four. Cheap chinese made junk, the T bolt clamps sucked. I ended up using straight hose with a 4" ID for couplers and manufacturing the bent pipes out of weld-together Nelson exhaust components, again, 4". There is only a flexible coupler between the turbo and the pipe, and the pipe and the Donaldson. Actually I should not use the past tense for this as it's not completed yet. But so far it's working.

Beware of some of the cheapo joints out there, the 4" ones I got were crap. Unfortunately I don't remember who I got them from, it was one of the e-bay outfits though.

http://www.mcmaster.com usually has all the fittings I ever need for a project like this. Not necessarily the cheapest, but always the fastest and most complete resource.
