intake manifold question (1 Viewer)

So I removed my carb yesterday to send to Jim C. and I looked into my intake manifold and it has a layer of black crud covering inside. I would guess that maybe the exhaust manifold might be like this but not the intake. Is this normal? ???

I would perform a compression check, and verify the condition of engine internals, and go from there. Significant blow by can create this condition in your intake...

I will check the compression. Would it be even worth it to rebuild my engine? I was thinking that the 2F block with a 3FE head sounded like a cool idea.
