I would like to get brighter lights than the #53 bulbs for the instrument gauges on a 1968 FJ40.

The #57 bulb globe is too large to fit. I am thinking of trying #1816 bulbs which are brighter, but longer. Will measure today to see if there is enough room.

Has anyone found/installed a slighter brighter light?

I believe you can get LED bulbs to replace the bulbs in the insrument cluster.

The ones I looked ar were pretty bright, would like to stay with something more like original.

A friend recommended 1445 or 363 bulbs. Will go to the local auto supply and see what's available.
