Mine is worn, dented chipped, none of the lights work, the oil pressure gauge may or may not work, wiring is melted in engine compartment. Ant thoughts, good bad or indifferent on the Dakota Digital Gauges?????

Depends on where you are taking your truck. A restored stock guage cluster looks really nice. The Dakota guages are also great. I just powered mine up and am more than impressed.

it is original stock for the most part, except for- cut fenders w/flares, weber carb, HFS front bumper, and aftermarket seats and will get a Vintage A/C in near future. But it has a new paint job. the aftermarket cluster seems nice and it is going to be a forever keeper (everything is for sale for a price). If the F155 craps out I will probably go to a LS motor (but fix or source another F155, to return it to original at some point)

the Dakota isn't a plug and play?

No, it requires their senders and an ignition and constant power source. Everything is wired to a controller and then uses 1 CAT5 to the display. The newer model comes with the cluster bezel attached. The VHX uses your old bezel.

All fair questions , @Jdc1

- YES since he is currently doing a Full Re-Wire with a Painless kit

- no MPH

- YES , alll my retrofits , and installs for shop clients , i did NOT have to do anything , But The OIL Sender , i only did that for Liability reasons

Thanks Matt, I’ve been curious since seeing these available? I have experience mostly with the early 70s and late 60s 40 series. They are pretty archaic compared to the later 70s.

to be very transparent ,

i dont even hook up the 50amp meter gauge

its does not do anything when hooked up , its a Dormant static guage with NO readout value ?

so why spend the time and money wasting on it ?

the first go around , the oil sender worked , so did water temp ,

but because there all low cost easy swaps , i DO replace all the senders now

i have Never replaced a fuel sender

Are you referring to an Amp gauge as ( Dormant with no readout value ) ?

This a excellent Thread that discusses BOTH view points on the 30 amp meter and the 50amp meter

and if there useless or not ?

It was the most fair and balanced thread i could find ............................

call me crazy, but I am one of those that if it is there, I want it to work,,,,,

Post up some pics of your cluster, maybe a wanted add for the needed parts will get it going and it will be OEM and work how it was designed. There is a great thread on here where someone took apart there whole cluster, cleaned it up and restored it. Now who knows how far you need to go but they aren’t that tuff to clean up.
