My VAIS unit is installed behind the head unit to the right.. the ipod wire is then fed to the glove box.. I don't have any pictures unfortunately but there is plenty of space to mount it there..

I have my XM and USA Spec control box under the carpet, to the upper left of where the passengers left foot goes. Just pull the carpet down from top, under the glove box and you will find the metal firewall/chassis. Use some good doubleside tape (industrial strength) and stick it on there. Cables have very easy access to the head unit and you can run a cable through the ashtray area for an iPod which you can rest in your change holder (left of the gear shifter)

Total install time, 20mins. including removing the head unit and opening two beers.

also, the vais unit has a mode that can be set that overrides the "I agree" screen. it rocks. im very happy with the vais unit.

I'm happy with vais too.. I've had not problems with it at all.. unfortunately, I couldn't get MD emulation to work so I am stuck with the limit of 99 files per play list..

Are either of you guys using the XM feature of your Vais or just the iPod?

Where did you guys pick these up at? I am definately stereo challenged so please forgive me.....but with this install do you have the option of controlling the ipod through the stereo?

Nope, mine is only used for the ipod :)

Got mine directly from VAIS
It allows you to control the ipod from the stereo. It shows as CD1 in my navigation-less head unit. Track info is displayed on the small green LCD. :)

Finally! This seems to be what I am looking for to be able to use XM and my 6 disk changer. Now I just have to figure out which one to order!

My other fear is how the merger is going to effect satellite radio. Since I got this LC, I have been waiting on installing Sirius, which I paid a lifetime subscription, to see if there will be equipment that can recieve both XM and Sirius. Still waiting.....

Has anyone installed one in a 100 with nav?

Yes, many folks have installed it in 100 w/Nav. My Vais with XM was unsuccessful after 4 tries so I have one in a box if you like to try it out for free. Let me know which features you want since some are iPod only, and some are XM and some are both.

Do a search and you will find stream after stream on this topic. Check US Spec, XM and Vais and you should get plenty of info.

For clarification: you installed the Vais and it didn't work? What specifically was the problem?

I don't understand why it works for some but not others, and how the Vais website can clearly state that it will work! So frustrating  Glad I didn't order it!

vias worked perfectly the first time. and yes i have navigation. the setting of the unit could be a bit tricky if your a retard. its a great product. only way to go.

Which Vias unit did you install? Do they all have the "i agree" override?

Thanks.

Since I am sure I could goof it up then this applies to me.....

I really don't care about XM, just would like to use my ipod for long rides.

I love my US SPEC PA15-Toy unit. And the PA20 is now available as well. It does everything you could want.
I mounted mine under the front part of the center console and ran the cable into the center console. My Ipod now lives next to the DVD Changer. Yes, all original stereo and Nav features work and the ipod is fully controlled from the steering wheel... and yes it displays text such as album and song tittles, track lengths etc.

mine is the ipod model. with the aux input. i am not sure if the other units have the ability to bypass the i agree screen. but i must say after another day of driving with it, it is amazing. and one can not downplay skipping the i agree feature. this is great.

Shlaker, did you ever think about trading in your PA15 for the 20? I have the same unit you have.

What is the big deal with the 20?
