First off thanks to all you guys who helped me with my thread about my power steering pump going out last week. Against the judgement of some I went the cheap route and bought a rebuilt unit from a local auto parts store on Saturday. I'm trying to nurse another year out of the motor and am going to do a Vortec conversion next summer. Anyway, I got the old pump out and had to use the old reservoir and pulley for the new pump. After getting it put in the new pump is leaking out of the front bolt that holds the reservoir to the base. I know these bolts have a built in o ring on them, and I used the new bolt on the new pump because I thought obviously it has a better o ring than the old one. My question is, is there another o ring between the reservoir and the base? I ended up finishing in the dark last Sat. and I'm thinking I might have missed one when I took it apart. One of those jobs that you think will take an hour that took 4. Should I have used the old bolt? I didn't compare the length of bolts (old vs. new) Any help would be appreciated.

Yes there is an O ring between the reservoir and pump. Common leakage point.
Its not easy to buy on its own as Toyota only sell it in a complete kit.
Contact a shop that specialises in hydraulics and see if they can match it up.

When mine was leaking a few years back I paid someone to run a kit through it when it only need the reservoir o ring replaced.:D
Mine was also leaking from the top of the reservoir where the metal pressed fitting was broken.
I had that soldered up.
I dont think the bolts are an issue.

Read my threade about my power steering debacle.
the pumps ( three) i bought all had the o-ring. i also bought an extra at the dealer. i can send you the one from the dealer. PM me your email, and i'll drop it in the mail. no charge.

i missed ther bolt issue.
the re-buildeds i got had two different bolts that had the o-rings. each bolt had a different length from the head down the shaft to the o-ring. the shorter bold would not seal, and ps fluid will pour out of the front. seems the rebuilts are also used on some on the P/UP's.
and ps fluid powing down on your smog pump IS NOT a thing you want to happen.
i ended up with a re-built OEM. no problems. i am now a expert of PS pump replacement.

Not all of the bolts are the same, at least they shouldn't be. The minis use the same pump with a remote reservoir. Some of the rebuilts come with the same bolt in the top hole as the rest of the holes. It should have a slightly longer bolt there to mount the tank. There is an extra 0.06" between the the head and the oring.

Thanks Hammer. I read your thread, and it seems to be the same problem I'm having. I should have looked at the bolts.

Hammer I just read your first article. When you're talking about the o ring, you mean the one on the bolt right?

no, the o-ring between the resi and the pump. everybody said the pumps wouldnt come with it, but they did, so i got an extra

I pulled it apart last night and the bolt that came with was shorter, so I put the old one back in. Seems to be holding. Thanks for the help.
