Hello everyone,
last year I decided to install an a/c in my BJ42. After a long unsuccessful search of the original crankshaft pulley, tensioner bracket and compressor bracket for V-belt drive, I built myself these parts.
Have a look at the pic´s.
After filling refrigerant R134a ac worked fantastic.

Very nice install!

@BJWilli , where in Bavaria are you? I have family in Munich and Hengersberg (northeast of Munich). Love that area.

OK. Thanks for your interest. I hope you can read my bad English.
It took me almost a half year where I get the parts and how to make it.
My biggest problem was to find the correct size with the matching connections of the evaporator.
I really wanted to place the evaporator between the seats. So the cool airflow blows in direction to gear lever and not in the face. An evaporator from an Alfa Romeo Spider 156 had the right size.

Step 1
I started to build the belt drive and to bring the V-belt in line.

I'll be back next summer. I'll PM you.

Very nice. Do you have a variable thermostat or just on/off based on evaporator icing temp?

Can you post the dimensions and model of the condensor you have used? It may suit one of my projects.

*edit* BTW when travelling in Germany I found the locals who apologised for their English spoke it better than 90% of those who grew up speaking it!

Very nice, a work of art!

@Dougal
HI, I´m pleased you like my ac.
The dimensions of the condenser: wide height deep in mm: 530x350x20
Connections 5/8" and 3/4"
I bought this one from +Universal Kondensatoren
Ask for info. Article number: 35956

It´s an electronic variable thermostat, switches on a power relay which shuts off magnetic coupling before icing

You are from New Zealand, North island or south island?
I had been there for over 30 years. Very nice island.

Thanks for the info. I am in the South Island. About an hour from Queenstown.
