Hi all,
I was speeking with a person with far more experience with toyota diesels (doesn't take much) than I about a turbo. He stated that because I have about 200K miles on my 3B, before I get/biuld a turbo I should have my injectors rebiult and a compression test to make sure that a turbo won't age my engine prematurely.
Is there a way to check if my injectors are working properly prior to shiping them out? Or would people recomend just putting on new injector nozzels?

Any thoughts would be great.
Thanks

rebuilt them ! Find a good diesel shop near you.

Rebuilding them now is a good idea but if it passes the test rebuild later, depends on your pocket.
Normally a visual spray test and and the opening pressure of the injectors is checked in the shop.
They have a pump pump on the bench that builds pressure in the injectors.

A comp test is also a good idea.

I had my injectors checked at Denso. I live in Okinawa so it made it pretty easy. They pull them, compression check, spray pattern, and clean. They were the original injectors (1981) and the recommended changing only one nozzle. Cost only $100 for checks and cleaningand another 100 for the new nozzle. It made a huge difference in performance and MPG.

Thanks,
I think that the only place around here that does it is about 35 miles south. I will see if they have any problem doing it on injectors they have never seen before.

Thanks all

Your LandCruiser injectors are not something strange or unusual, they may even have the parts in stock or can get them very easily.
