I got several part numbers out of my maintance manual for injector pump oil, after trying to order some from the local toyota dealer they tell me it has been discontinued, they also called the diesel shop that handles all there diesels, and they told them to just use regular 10w 30. Before I put in anything I wanted to check with you guys. I know someone said Neetsfoot oil but I can't seem to find it.

Any ideas?

Neetsfoot but i do not know where to get it, i think i heard you can get it at Crappytire...

Sorry to newbify this thread, but what the hell is this for? Did I totally miss a maintenance item on the injector pump? I thought the fuel lubed the pump????

Enlighten me please!

there is a bolt on the top of the injector pump that requires a few drops of oil every oil change to keep the diaphram from getting old and brittle.

Eric the bolt is called the dashpot? I think.

The neatsfoot oil is a leather softener, try a bulk leather shop or saddlery merchant.
Im guessing the diaphragm is leather.

Does the 12ht motor have this injector pump diaphram. Looking on the FSM I cannot find where it would be?

like in one of those a vitamins?

cool if so I have some, they are liquid on the inside!

I have used Neetsford oil for yrs.It is leather dressing for saddles and that kind of stuff remember the diaphram is leather.I also mix it 50/50 with kerosine to polish chrome wheels.Theres a pic of my 75 somewhere with 18 yr old shiny chrome wheels.Just went to the shed my oil comes from Glendalechemical products pty ltd Sydney Austalia. If I can help you guys out with getting some let me know.

I just bought a little bottle for 10 bucks from a horse supply store called green hawk, it is a good CDN source if anyone is having trouble finding it. I tried CT, TSC and homehardware, everyone looked at me like I was nuts, even though they probably have it tucked away somewhere.

I know there is a pic around here somewhere on a previous thread, where the plug is to drip it into.
cheers
Eric

Can someone post a Picture of what we are talking about? Also I have installed a turbo on my 3B, do I need to make any modifications to the injector pump or diaphragm?

cheers

Neatsfoot oil

I long ago realised diaphragm-softening oil was simply Neatsfoot. And if you can get it easily over here in "N-E-W Z-E-E-E-L-A-N-D" ------ then you can surely get it anywhere.
In this country, buying it from a diesel specialist will give you only a small quantity for big bucks. On the other hand - getting it from a hardware store will give you 10xlifetimes supply for very little $.
If someone sells you ordinary oil pretending it to be Neatsfoot - Then that's like selling you dishwashing detergent pretending it to be engine oil!!!! What arsehole would do that?
Anyone trying to scare you off getting your own Neatsfoot oil is probably just trying to protect their income (from selling you minute quantities of "mystery oil" at exhorbitant prices).
One point worth noting is that Neatsfoot oil is a natural product that's undergone very little "refining". It is common for it to have "scummy fatty deposits" floating on it - particularly when you buy it in bulk (say 500ml). Remember that the diaphragm is "leather" (which is natural too) and it should be replaced every 60,000km - when you can clean out gunk from the housing at the same time.

Cod liver oil

By the way - I'd be surprised if Cod Liver Oil was the same as Neatsfoot oil. I wouldn't want to take a swig of my Neatsfoot to improve my bowels!!! And I certainly wont be squeezing "a capsule of cod liver oil from the local Health Food retailer" onto my injector pump diaphragm.
