Getting ready to mount a tranny temp. sender for my 700r.....

Can I run a T off the cooler instead of having it mounted in the pan?

Should this be on the pressure side of the tranny?

I have always put them in the line leaving the tranny, going to the cooler....

I have seen a lot of them installed that way.....

When I had a 1984 standard cab Toy 4x4 with a 4.3/700R4 I was going to install one in the pan also, just to see the difference in temp...but did not get around to it before the truck went away...

Wouldn't the pressure side give you a more accurate reading from the temp. of fluid leaving the tranny?

From the way I read it, that's what Steve is saying. Seems like you want to read whatever the max is.

Post some pics when you're done.

exactly what he said

What about using the pump pressure test port? looks to be 1/8" fitting.

I do not know if it is deep enough to not bottom out the sending unit....

Check it out, and post up what you find.

Either going to or returning from the cooler will work, however, I've always wanted to know the temp of the fluid going into the tranny vs. the fluid coming out. A matter of preference.
