Went to turn on my AC this morning and it wouldn't turn on. My AC belt pulley that sits in front of the compressor has been "wobbling" but AC has been working fine. When I opened the hood this morning there appears to be melted black plastic material between the pulley and the compressor. Is it possible that the pulley seized or am I looking at a compressor problem? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

You could have had your clutch or pulley go out on the compressor. I would remove the belt and see if you can rotate the pulley, it should spin freely with the compressor off (clutch disengaged). If it doesn't you know there is a problem....Houston (sorry, couldn't resist).

Look at the A/C thread a page or two back; you seem to have the exact same problem.

Oh, and a rhetorical question: Why the heck did you neglect the known problem?? You should have at least removed the belt till you had time to fix the wobble.

I often learn the hard way.
