Import help - Turbo Diesel (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone,

I am looking at importing a turbo diesel 80 series from Japan and I had a slew of questions that I am not sure where to get the answers from. Hoping you, good people can help me. This is for offroad / overlanding use and would be replacing my 2004 v8 4runner.

• For those who have done this before. How did you do it? Did you do it directly or through an importer? What would you recommend?
• How are the frames on these typically with rust?
• What are things I should look out for?
• I heard that the ‘96’s have the newer turbo diesel, is that true. If so is it worth trying to procure one of those instead of an older one?
• How are the diesel with hill climbs? One of the things I love most about my 4Runner is how well it tackles hills offroad.
• Anything else I should look out for.

I appreciate any and all help. I’ve done a lot of soul searching about what my next vehicle should be and I am excited to try one of these out but I know very little about them.

As far as info about diesel landcruisers, try the diesel tech section

Diesel Tech / 24 volts

BJ/HJ diesels (3B, 13BT, 1KZ, 1HZ, 1PZ, etc) and other diesel conversions (ie: Isuzu, Hino, 4BT, 6BT, etc)
