Quick question, i went to get gas, left the gas cap on my roof and drove off , do i NEED to find a new one? i know, lame story but some help for my dumb @$$ would be nice

I think a cap from Toyota cost like $5. Just ask your parts department.

you will be fine till you buy a new one, try napa or knechts or schucks or baxter or whatever.

you will not pass smog in california without a cap that is actually tight fitting. without smog your vehicle will not get registered. It's something about preventing hydrocarbon vapor release to the atmosphere.

Keeps your gas in and water out. I have seen a 60 that went without a gas cap for a time. Water and rust throughout the entire fuel system including the carb. Took a bunch of work to fix.

Just stuff a sock in it. That way if you get cold you can light the sock.

gas evaporates pretty fast if the cap isn't there.
