Well guys I have made it over to the dark side, I am from Austin (obviously) and I just picked up a FJ60 thats it very good condition. I also own a jeep and I go to HF regularly, im looking forward to wheeling the FJ and meeting new people.

I do have a few questions though.

1. whats a normal mpg range for a 60 with a 5speed
2. where can I find a gas tank?
3. will the rough country lift kit for the 80's trucks also work on the FJ60? (seems like it)

badass forum and I cant wait to learn s*** about my new FJ like I did my jeep on jeepforum.

Welcome!

Have you checked into whether your tank was changed under the Toyota recall? You can call any Toyota dealer and give them the VIN# and they will tell you if the tank has been replaced or not, along with the rear seat belts... You might get it for free...

If if has been chaged under the recall, like mine, and you still need one, like me, I ordered mine from CDan at American Toyota in NM (https://forum.ih8mud.com/members/cruiserdan.html). It was about $200 cheaper than the local dealers.

Again welcome,

Quick answers to your initial post:
1. Mileage is going to suck. I think in the 11 city/15 highway range.
2. Craigslist, cruiserparts.net, IH8MUD classifieds, and maybe junkyards would be good sources for a fuel tank, but see Matt's suggestion above first.
3. By "80's" truck, do you mean FJ/FZJ80? If so, 80 series trucks came with coil springs and not leaf springs, so it will not work.

Welcome!!! Eventhough it is the dark side, it's the good side.

Or if you mean 80's truck as in mini truck it wont work the leaf packs aren't the same lengths.

the rough county website just said 80's model trucks. I found out it was the small trucks and the leaf springs could only be used on 4runners?

but then I was told to just do a SOA and go that route.

If you're gonna do a SOA stock springs is your best bet unless they are damaged.
