After years of owning an FJ60, tow 3rd gen 4runners, an FJ Cruiser, a GX460, I finally JUST picked up a tripled locked '95 FJZ80!! It needs a bit of love, but happy to start. It's going to be a family fun vehicle with some moderate off roading every couple/few months. its got 192K miles with one family owning it (dad passed to kids). I'm very thankful for this community!
I ordered stock sized BFGs, a strategy i've usually stuck with for weight, reduction of component stress, efficiency, etc. I also like some clearance/wheel well too. I know this approach isn't super popular as it leaves some clearance on the table, but it works for me!
Some initial questions/comments/observations:
1. looking at the OME 2.5" lift kit, any pics with stock tire size (bonus for burgundy!)
2. Paint oxidation - i have a ton with the hood and flares being the worst. Looking at all options, including leaving it.
3. lots of vibration when a/c engages, but it works!
4. Radio/dome lights/clock non op - going to check fuses
5. sets aren't ripped, but cracking. Looking for best leather retrofit eventually
6. exhaust leaks - considering JB weld in short term and replacement in medium term
7. Oil Temp gauge non operational - undecided on if i'll chase it
Have searched many things, but if you're interesting in sharing your thoughts here, i'm all ears!
