Just curious, bit is this site being hosted on computers in someones house, rather than by a hosting company? We seem to be having a few glitches lately.

I'm not complaining. If someone enjoys messing with computers I imagine doing your own hosting can be fun:)

Crazy runs it out of his still shed to throw off the tax agents. Every once in a while when he's cooking up some mash, the server gets too hot and things muck up a bit. :meh:

sorry, Mom has been downloading game shows a lot lately...next time she brings me down some pizza rolls, i'll ask her to stop.

If only the vBulletin team would get their ass together like the YUI/googlecode guys a minimize wiresize x-mission, woody could finally afford (fill in the blank)

Yes, the 4.6million posts and 44,000+ members are being hosted on a IBM 386 which is sitting on the washing machine in Woody's mom's basement... It just got upgraded with a 10 Gig hard drive... coming soon: CD-ROM drive!

I heard he's also upgrading to a 56K modem (primarily for his Atari). His went down and he can't find a replacement for the 14.4k anymore. :D
Pass some of those pizza rolls around, Woody! Mom only lets me eat them on the plastic covered furniture.

Maybe you should get some facts before you decide to make comments on someone's life work.

and about 775,000 of those 4.6 million posts are TUT. That's about 16.6% . . .

Are you bragging about it or lamenting the fact?:p

Woah, that is so 1998.

I'm still using 5 1/4" floppies

Woody you really need to get this server out of my outhouse......pronto.

That must be the one that hosts all the sChat and P&R threads? I'm guessing you've knocked it in a few times? :p

Has a thread ever been moved from Help to sChat? :hhmm:

All based out of your contract server location?

co-located in Reno, yes...

I also use Site-Vault for a 'home' backup (w/ a 2TB WD RAID-1 Network setup on order), have hot-spare 73G SAS drives in the web server for a daily 'local' backup and am looking at BQBackUp.com for nightly rsync's

Lost me after Reno, but cool.........Glad you have stabilty and reliabilty........not that its really ever been a issue.
