idle solenoid (1 Viewer)

Hi, What is the purpose of the solenoid on the carb of a stock 71 fj with the F motor? Does it need constant power or keyed power?

The idle fuel cutoff solenoid was designed to provide a never-ending source for "my 40 won't idle" threads...
And maybe to cut off fuel delivery when the ignition is turned off...supposed to prevent run-on.
Should have keyed power. You want to hear it click when you turn the ignition on.
