Just got from a beach trip last weekend where my starter went out on me. Had local shop replace my starter. I noticed before I dropped off the cruiser that it sounded like the idle was higher than normal. Picked up cruiser today and is definitely higher. Any ideas? Kinda sounds like a pulley might be going out? That wouldn’t cause a higher idle woul it?

Trying to post video but it won’t let me upload a 10 second video.

I’ve had the same issue after going to a shop.
My issue was that after they where done. They didn’t tighten both nuts that adjust the idle in the engine bay.
So it was set, then after i drive a bit, the vibration would move the idle, then it would rev to high.

The fix? Reset the idle and tighten both screws

Thank you for the information.
It almost sounds like a bad bearing in a pulley, this wouldn’t cause a high idle would it?

Bad bearings wouldn’t cause hi idle, but they are noisy.
Good luck!

how high is the idle?

does it level out when engine is warm?

There is a small connector on the driver's side firewall that will correct that. It sounds like they forgot to plug it back on when they assembly the intake.
I took a picture, is the connector that I'm holding with my fingers.

Thats just a ground wire. How will that correct his high idle?

Is your A/C switched on without you realising, this could be raising your idle. The bearing noise could be a noisy compressor.
I will look into this, what about a open vacuum line?

Wow that sounds like a screaming old man that doesn’t want to wake up. Take off your serp belt, check it for cracks, then spun each of the pulleys. If they spin for long periods of time without stopping, replace them.

Will do!! Thank you!

When my truck is off should I be able to move my fan? Like spin it?

Would this cause a high idle ?

No
Check all your pulleys and tensioners.

Check the fan bracket.

Local Shop checked pulleys, one was bad, replaced still have high idle. They are taking cruiser to the local dealership for me. I start my cross country move on Friday. FML
