So...I'm buttoning up all the little issues on my truck and I noticed again this add-on done by a previous owner. It looks like some sort of kill switch, but I wasn't provided with a key. Here are pictures that show it in the interior just below my fuse box. The thick cable goes through the firewall and then appears to continue to the alternator. Is that what it looks like to you'all?

I'm looking for comments or suggestions and what to do with this addition.

PS...there is also a viper alarm system installed that doesn't appear to have anything to do with this unit.

Maybe...I'll retrace the cable housing again to see if that's where it ends up. That makes more sense. Thanks.

It's actually a pretty cool idea. Finding a key that fits could be a challenge.

G'day early man. Thanks for the link showing some detail and pretty solid confirmation that this is indeed a hood lock. I can't find the exact replacement in-stock online, but it appears to be the "Hornet hood lock cable 567T". I'll bring it into my local lock smith to see if he can find a key blank or a replacement cylinder.
