Couple of weeks ago I got jacked up with my trailer and, to my amazement, the receiver on my 4Plus swing-out was compromised, along with my rear frame cross-member behind it. Had to cut the bolts and extensions to get the bumper off. Now, I suppose I will cut the receiver off of the bumper and weld a new one on, but the frame is the main issue. As you can see in the pics, the frame is pushed in a bit right at the center, not horrible, but it needs help if I am to get my 4Plus back in place. Guy at the frame place wants $190 just to see if it is repairable...
It has been discussed that I have it straightened if possible ($$$) OR cut the piece out and replace (loss of integrity) OR remove and replace the entire rear cross-member (gigantic nightmare, especially with tub still in place) OR simply weld a new 1/4" or 1/2" steel plate on the face of the cross-member for rigidity and then replace the bumper.
I'm wondering what the minds of MUD can conjure up?
Any input is most appreciated...
