just did a upper end overhaul and did a desmog at the same time. wondering if i need the ics plugged in. the truck runs better that it has in a long time. wants to do erratic idle when coming to a stop and sometimes dies. please let me know thanks

If the idle control solenoid isn't energized, the carb won't get enough fuel. It normally (in concert with the emissions computer and vacuum switch) cuts off partial fuel to the carb to prevent backfire during decelerating, saves fuel during deceleration and improves engine braking performance when decelerating by cutting off some of the fuel.
It also prevents dieseling at shut off.

Keep it? Heck yeah.
